The Interview
Q: What’s your job title, and what do you do day to day?
A: My job title is IT specialist. On a typical day, I might be helping someone troubleshoot an issue, researching a dilemma I wasn’t able to solve right away, continuing my education by studying for certifications, or researching IT topics that could benefit the firm in some way.
Q: What’s your favorite part about your job and our company culture?
A: My favorite part of my job so far is the satisfaction I get when I solve an issue for someone. Largely because I get to help people with something that they might not understand fully—it gives me the same kind of satisfaction that one might get from completing a puzzle.
My favorite part about our company culture is how open and friendly everyone is. Being the newest hire in a smaller office where many coworkers have worked for a long time was a little intimidating at first, but that feeling fled quickly when I realized how warm and welcoming the whole office is.
Q: What’s your favorite project or achievement and why?
A: I would say my favorite achievement so far is getting this job here at Gilbert Architects. I would consider this job a personal achievement for me because I worked so hard during my time at Millersville University. Seeing my hard work amount to a job in the field I studied in school was a big deal for me. I spent a lot of time and money to get my degree, and I certainly did not want to see all that effort wasted.

Q: What does an ideal weekend look like for you?
A: An ideal weekend for me is staying home with my fiancée and our two cats, binging whatever TV show we are watching at the time. Our two cats are pictured here. Ace is the orange guy on the left, and Clover is the calico girl on the right.
Q: What’s the best trip you’ve ever been on and why?
A: So far, the best trip that I have been on was probably the trip that I went on with my fiancée and my friends last year in January. Originally, my fiancée and I planned to take a trip to Phoenix, AZ to visit one of my best friends that I grew up with, but I changed those plans to include a bunch of my friends because I was planning to propose to my now fiancée.

I ended up proposing on the side of the Grand Canyon, and she said yes. It was a fantastic trip; the best one I’ve planned and been a part of. It also led to one of the best days of my life so far, and I got to spend time with my fiancée and best friends.
Q: What’s your favorite food?
A: I would say my favorite food is a good burger.
Q: If you could swap jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
A: I am not sure I would last the full day, but I think it would be interesting to see what the IT/tech team looks like and does at one of the massive tech companies like Google or Amazon. I just want to see how chaotic it is when you have thousands of users across the globe, and I also want to see what their typical day looks like compared to mine.
