The Interview

Q: What’s your job title, and what do you do day to day?

A: I have the title of project architect, and I get to do a little bit of everything!

Some days I will be doing design work, others a thorough code analysis, some days are full of meetings, and I also do a fair amount of production work helping to develop drawing sets.

Q: What’s your favorite part about your job and our company culture?

A: As architects, our duty is to the people our buildings serve. The type of work we do has a direct impact on not only our users, but everyone who lives in the area. I find a lot of fulfillment in doing meaningful work that will positively influence communities.

I really appreciate Garmann Miller and Gilbert Architects’ commitment to their values and the integrity with which the company operates. I feel as though everyone is truly working together to do the best work we possibly can to do right by our clients and the communities they serve.

Q: What’s your favorite project or achievement and why?

A: Getting my professional license and having the title of Architect was both a professional and personal goal of mine. Not only was it a tremendous amount of work to achieve, but a milestone in my life that I am able to look back on and know I can achieve my goals and dreams, which I did not always believe was possible.

Q: What does an ideal weekend look like for you?

A: An ideal weekend starts with grabbing a good coffee somewhere, spending time with my wife Kendall, our dog Olive, and our cat Crackers, as well as a good mix of productivity, socializing, and relaxing. My ideal weekend ends with a long run on Sunday with my run club, which is followed by watching football or soccer!

Q: What’s the best trip you’ve ever been on and why?

A: My favorite trip to date was in 2021 when my wife Kendall and I biked from Pittsburgh to Washington DC on the Great Allegheny Passage and the C&O Towpath. It was a great physical challenge but also gave us the chance to visit a lot of unique small towns along the way.

Q: What’s your favorite food?

A: I love Mediterranean food, particularly falafel and hummus!

Q: If you could swap jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?

A: I would love to be a musician for a day. I have always loved music and am currently relearning how to play the piano!
