What Scott Brings to the Table

Scott’s approach to his work is equal parts artistry and precision. As project director and BIM manager, he thrives at the intersection of big-picture vision and fine detail, whether that means designing entire buildings or shaping the standards that guide our BIM production.

He’s also proof that curiosity and persistence can take you far, whether you’re mastering the latest AEC technology or teaching yourself to play Chopin!

Let’s get to know more about Scott!

The Interview

Q: What’s your job title, and what do you do day to day?

A: Project director and BIM manager

As Project director, I’m responsible for designing entire buildings and putting together complete sets of construction documents, as well as creating renderings and animations.

As BIM manager, my responsibilities include developing and maintaining the Revit Content Library and Revit Template, developing drawing standards, mentoring and training the BIM production team, and keeping up to date with the latest advancements in AEC technology.

Q: What’s your favorite part about your job and our company culture?

A: My favorite part about my job is simply enjoying what I do. I love that I can wake up every day and have a job that’s fun and satisfying. I appreciate that the projects we design make a positive impact on the communities they serve, and I like to feel a bit of pride for helping make each project a success.

Q: What’s your favorite project or achievement and why?

A: Enough about work already… my favorite personal project is Opus 1 – Complete (Three Nocturnes) by Scott A. Ludwig.

While I’ve never taken a piano lesson nor studied music in school, I taught myself how to play classical piano including Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Liszt and others.

Finally, in 2023, my mom convinced me to start writing my own music. I composed three nocturnes for piano and compiled them into my first Opus. Nocturne “Lily Storm” has been uploaded to YouTube and I look forward to getting the other two uploaded as well.

  • Nocturne “Emberfell” in C-sharp minor, Opus 1. No. 1
  • Nocturne “Dramatique” in B-flat minor, Opus 1. No. 2
  • Nocturne “Lily Storm” in C-Sharp Major, Opus 1, No. 3

Q: What does an ideal weekend look like for you?

A: Life moves so fast. My ideal weekend would be simple, quiet, calm, and relaxing. Play some classical piano, maybe take a nap and a good, long walk outside. Wait, when do these weekends occur?

For some entertainment, I like to throw on a hoodie and grab some handwarmers and go to the ice rink to watch my 16-year-old goaltender son (Nolan) do what he loves most – play ice hockey!

Q: What’s the best trip you’ve ever been on and why?

A: In my early 20s, my dad and I went to Scotland for a week and then England for a week. Scotland was my favorite place I’ve ever been. I really enjoyed traveling from Fife to the Scottish Highlands and Inverness and just taking in the breathtaking landscape and scenery and touring the amazing castles! I could listen to the locals talk for hours – it’s my favorite accent. The food left a little to be desired, however.

During the second week of the trip in England, I was hanging out with a bunch of rowdy locals in a little English pub and got to witness David Beckham score one of his most legendary free kick goals for England against Greece that sealed their World Cup qualification for 2002. That little pub erupted in a celebration that’s hard to describe to this day…  Everything was covered in beer. Good times.

Q: What’s your favorite food?

A: If I could only eat one food item for the rest of my life, I’d choose bananas. Fresh fruit is my favorite, and bananas are at the top of the list.

Q: If you could swap jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?

A: So many come to mind… currently, I’d swap places with Benjamin Šeško. He’s a Slovenian soccer player who just signed a contract to play for Manchester United as their center striker. To experience the feeling that he will experience of walking out onto the pitch at Old Trafford (Man Utd’s home stadium) for the first time in front of 74,200 welcoming fans… wow! I’ll go do that and he can come here and finish coordinating these dang Door Details!
