Bunker Hill Elementary School

Designed for growing enrollment
To accommodate steady enrollment growth across the district, a new two-story elementary school was designed to serve 820 students.
Situated on Bunker Hill Road adjacent to the Appoquinimink Environmental Technologies Classroom, the main floor organizes key public and shared amenities, including the administrative suite, guidance offices, nurse’s clinic, media center, and cafetorium.
The lower level also groups art, music, and technology classrooms alongside dedicated learning spaces for first- and second-grade students.
Upper-level academic organization
The second story is dedicated primarily to older elementary grades, housing classrooms for third through fifth grade.
This upper level also integrates satellite administrative support spaces and an office for the assistant principal, placing leadership close to upper-grade instruction while maintaining quiet, focused academic corridors away from the busier ground-floor hubs.

Campus amenities + site circulation
Outdoors, the campus features a fully fenced playground and a natural amphitheater built with stepped turf seating and a concrete stage.
The site plan incorporates parking for 160 vehicles and 29 full-size buses, driven by two new access roads that completely separate bus loops from parent drop-off zones.
Pedestrian walkways tie the entire campus together, including a connecting sidewalk to the adjacent high school stadium.
