Council Rock High School South
This Council Rock High School project involved building a second high school for the Council Rock School District and realigning the secondary grades into 9–12. The new high school is designed to accommodate 2,000 students in core areas sized for 2,400 students allowing for future expansion. The school includes a performing arts wing, academic wing, and wellness center—each with its own identity based on a “Mind, Body and Soul” concept. The wellness center includes an indoor running track, competition gym, auxiliary gym, weight room, and wrestling and team rooms.
The school’s design allows maximum flexibility for reorganization if current teaching methods change. This school is located on a 140-acre parcel of land and is surrounded by several athletic fields that may be shared with the community.
As part of the project, the existing roads were widened, turning lanes were added, and current signalization improved. In addition, two new collector roads were built to connect existing roads and to enhance the main access to the high school.
