Preserving history through adaptive replacement
Addressing aging infrastructure while honoring community heritage, this project combined major renovations to the existing facility with the replacement of the original 1927 building.
Designed to preserve the architectural charm of the original Old York High, the new facade seamlessly integrates salvaged historical elements. These include the original cut limestone ornamental crest, ornate arches, decorative window frames, auditorium marble, bronze light fixtures, and vintage ticket windows.
Comprehensive facility + program modernization
Extensive interior renovations transformed key academic departments across math, social studies, English, business, and foreign languages.
To ease the transition for incoming students, the layout established a dedicated 9th Grade Academy as a small learning community.
Upgraded administrative offices, a revamped natatorium, refreshed gymnasiums, and an expanded cafeteria were paired with facility-wide asbestos abatement, ADA accessibility updates, a new roof, and complete mechanical, electrical, and HVAC overhauls.
Three-story addition + adaptable academic wing
A new three-story addition expands the campus capacity, housing general classrooms, a modern science wing, a technical education department, a health suite, a media center, and a state-of-the-art auditorium.
Designed with future-proof versatility in mind, the open floor plans allow spaces to easily reconfigure into additional small learning communities as educational needs evolve, all supported by updated technology infrastructure and durable interior finishes.
